I tried this place a few weeks ago with good friends. I had a wonderful time. Too often you got to a restaurant for a meal and it takes like an hour to finish because you’re being rushed out to make room for more diners. This experience was engaging and took up around two hours. The food is simple but filling and wonderful. The entertainment/chefs are dazzling. It is expensive but a really nice way to celebrate something special. Ask for the hot sauce. You won’t be disappointed.

I had an informal business meeting today. I don’t want to get into specifics but it’s something I was gearing up for a while. It turned out that there likely is no market for my idea so that’s likely the end of that. Now I’m feeling a little dazed though. It takes me time to refocus after big events in my life whether they be exams, presentations, social events that I’ve planned etc. I’m pretty blank right now. Kind of numb.

Finally got around to reading this book. I enjoyed it very much. There’s this disturbing thing that happens in the beginning which almost made me quit but I’m glad I kept going. It was a very fast read. I enjoyed how words in Farsi or Pashtun were incorporated in the text in such a way that you knew what they meant even without looking it up.

I really enjoyed this movie. I like movies with scenes where there are only two characters in a room talking for a long time. That’s the kind of acting I enjoy most. Explosions don’t always make a good movie.
Two terminally ill cancer patients from very different walks of life befriend each other in their common hospital room. When both elderly men realize they have less than a year to live, they compile a list of things to do before they “kick the bucket”. Some things on the list are simple like “reconnect with people” and some are adventurous like “jump off a plane”. Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman do a really good job.
I guess I liked the movie because it showed the dangers of just walking through the motions of life without experiencing it. Morgan Freeman’s character was very loved and respected but too many things became routine for him and he had lost the ability to appreciate. Jack Nicholson’s character was so busy being successful in his business he didn’t mind he had lost touch with family and friends.

Tipu and I checked out this place a few nights ago. The setting is beautiful. Tall chairs, small tables, pixie lights and dark wood. They also sell jewelry, home decoration pieces and pashminas. The food is ok. Perhaps I’ve grown wary of Thai food. It all seems very similar after a while. I had one annoyance however. They do not leave rice at your table. They spoon it out for you on your plate and walk away. If they notice you need more rice they come back. I don’t appreciate that. If they don’t notice that you’re done your rice you’re kind of stuck in a holding pattern until they come by.
