Following is one of my favourite recipes. It’s couscous with shrimp. What is couscous? Good question. It’s wheat. Couscous is a staple food in North Africa.
You start with couscous in a bowl.
Then you add equal portion stock (vegetable, chicken, etc) or water. I think it’s best if the liquid is hot. After pouring the liquid into the bowl of couscous you let it sit for 10 or 15 minutes. After, you scratch the surface with a fork to make it fluffy and separate as shown below.
To that I added diced tomato, green onion, cilantro, olive oil and lots of oregano. Couscous has a very neutral flavour. You need to add stuff to it. Try whatever.
You can stop there or you can add some shrimp (or other protein). Below is shrimp washed and patted dry with freshly ground black pepper, lemon juice and salt.
You melt some butter/margerine and wait until it’s done frothing. Then you add the shrimp and let sit. After a minute you can add garlic paste or minced garlic. Then toss it a bit until shrimp is pink. Do not overcook shrimp, it gets weird.
After, take the shrimp out of the pan. There will be shrimp bits and seasoning left. You then add apple juice and lemon juice to unstick the bits (deglaze the pan).
After the liquid comes to a boil and thickens a bit pour it over the shrimp. Add a little cilantro and grated lemon peel.
Then incorporate the shrimp and juices into the couscous. Couscous can get really dry so liquids are a necessary addition.
Hello. I thought I would start a new category entitled “music”. I think it’ll be a fun way for sharing.
So I bought the Timbaland cd thinking it would be amazing. I was mostly dissapointed. The song “Apologize” is great. The song “Give it To Me” is good too. After that it’s pretty much rap crap. Same old same old, “girl grind it, look at me I’m so great”, “I’m so rich, you can’t touch me, you’re a loser, I can kill you”. I was mostly excited about this CD because I heard the amazing following song. Ironically this song wasn’t even on the CD.
Also, I’ve included Eve’s song Tambourine. Am I hellucinating or does the guy say “get yourself a Muslim?”.
Lastly, an older song but still makes me happy called “Like This”. Kelly Rowland w/ Eve.
This was an excellent movie. Well worth your money to sit and enjoy the creative intracacy of special effects, good acting, beautiful scenery, good script and well thought out plot. It’s lengthy but it didn’t really feel so bad. Movie starts out with some enchanted call for help being activitated. From there on it gets a little fuzzy. Yes, they set off to get Jack from Davie Jone’s locker. However, there is so much backstabbing and counter-scheming by each of the main characters that it’s quite difficult to understand who’s playing it straight. Make sure you stay until the very very very end of the credits for a short last scene.
Mohammad insisted we go see this movie. I was hoping to hold off until it reached the cheapies but it was apparently too important for that. Movie was good. Much better that penguin mess. So the frog king dies and leaves Shrek and Fiona to run the show. Shrek and Fiona aren’t so fond of the royal life so Shrek, Donkey and that cat go off to find some forgotten cousin of Fiona’s. Charming, (idiot boy who tried to save Fiona in the first movie, son of evil fairy) the villain of this whole franchise unhatches yet more plans to takeover the monarchy.
The Shrek movies are marvelous for pointing out politically incorrect story lines. For example, remember in the first movie how Shrek and Fiona didn’t change and the animation sequences were so similar to Beauty and the Beast which emphasized that Disney keeps screwing up. Well in this movie they really went after the role of princesses.
It’s unfortunate that they got Justin Timberlake to play a character. I am getting quite sick of him.
