Last night my mom, sister and friends had a surprise birthday party for me. I felt vibes that it could happen but I wouldn’t let myself believe it would happen so I wouldn’t get dissapointed if it didn’t happen. The secret was well kept but early on I felt the evening’s plans were prime for surprise festivities. Anyways, I think this year I really needed it. Twenty-six was always my freak out age. To me it has always represented the crossing over from young adult to adult. It’s a huge step function. The good news is that I don’t have any more freak out ages to worry about. After 26 it’s all the same plane of adulthood. Adulthood is very challenging. Although fun and joy are possible I feel that they are dampened by maturity.
I had a great evening. We ate, we played “Scene It” and we danced around. I haven’t danced around like that in months, definately before there was snow on the ground. Thanks to everyone who came. Gifts were not necessary. I had a really really really good time. I haven’t been that unrestrained crazy happy in a while.
Happy 26 Nusraat!

Happy Birthday!!!
Good one Chris
I don’t know if you can attribute too much significance with a particular age, at least something like 26, b/c that generally doesn’t coincide with any sort of regular milestone (eg. high school graduation, undergrad, etc.). I figured that you had transitioned into adulthood when you got married, but I guess you’re still not in the working force and I can see why you feel that you’re not fully in adulthood mode.
