Excellent movie. I will write more about it later. (10pm-ish, Nov. 19th)

Sometime later (3:30am, Nov. 20th)…

Did you know that 007 movies are from a book? I didn’t. Yes I’m out of it. Well Casino Royale is the first of the series written by Ian Flemming. I didn’t know that when I watched the movie last night. In retrospect it makes sense because in different parts of the movie I was suspicious of Bond’s slight change of character. In the movie he falls hard for a woman which is uncharacteristic because he usually has flings. All throughout the movie Bond is accused of having a terribly large ego which you didn’t hear as repeatedly in other Bond movies. So since it’s a remake of the first book he’s still a little soft/human and he hasn’t quite proven his abilities yet. Also, there is no gadget guy either b/c I guess he would show up later. The movie starts off with him earning his “00″ status.

Later arrives (3:30pm, Nov 21)

Where was I? Ok, so another feature of Bond movies are the women. Eva Green is gorgeous. The other woman, who’s shown first in the movie has the most severe dimensions I’ve ever seen. I’m not sure whether or not the big screen compounded her image but it was very strange. She was a stick with the largest chest I’ve ever seen. Think Iranian Barbie. I’m not sure where she’s from by the way, just throwing out a guess.

No crazy gadgets in this movie. There’s an amazing foot chase though right at the beginning. Have you ever seen those freaks of nature who jump from buildings and up walls? Think Spiderman but no string. This movie has some world renowned stunt guy who does these crazy things that I do not believe a human is supposed to do at a construction site.

Why am I so heavily promoting this movie? Because I don’t like the idea of tap-dancing penguins beating Casino Royale at the box office. I saw the “march of the penguins”. Not to say that I’m an expert or anything but these birds seem to have an incredibly difficult life not an entertaining one. That being said, I know I’ll see Happy Feet pretty soon anyways, I’m actually holding out until they start showing it at Imax.

Also, I think the actor Daniel Craig does a really good job in this movie. A lot of Bond fans were very anti when he was chosen b/c they didn’t think he was pretty boy enough, had too many muscles and didn’t have dark hair. I think they were hoping for someone younger too. Anyways, I really like the idea of an actor proving himself on the screen. I also like the idea of a franchise re-emerging. Bourne Identity and Mission Impossible are good but 007’s a classic.
